Vargas Family
God has sent us to serve a man by the name of Oswaldo Vargas and his family. We received a phone call about Oswaldo's situation and was not clear about what to expect. You see Oswaldo has no functioning kidneys and visits the hospital every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to undergo Dialysis. He has been receiving this treatment for over 10 years!
To say the situation is a bad one is simply an understatement. 10 years ago Oswaldo was a construction worker making ends meet for his family which consists of his wife, Maria, and their three children. Oswaldo became sick and with the coming illness came a new level of poverty. Oswaldo and his family used to own a trailer home in which they lived. Once Oswaldo became ill, he could no longer make the payments and thus led to it's repossession by the lender. At this point Oswaldo and his family had no where to go. On their property was a garage where they would park the car and even fix a few when needed. Oswaldo was forced to convert this garage into a home.
Since the trailer home had the bathroom facilities already built in, they were left to build their own. With very little money to spare, they gathered up some cinder blocks and pieced together a makeshift bathroom, which is still in use today. Unfortunately this bathroom was not able to be built onto the garage since there were no utilities yet installed so Oswaldo had to build it some 40 to 50 feet away where the existing water pipes were.
As Oswaldo's illness got worse, his ability to walk and maneuver slowly became an issue. One night he was walking from his converted garage to the external outhouse when he tripped over a misplaced object. When he placed his arms in front of him to break the fall, all of his weight was placed onto his shoulders breaking both of them instantly. He has not been able to use them effectively since.
The breaking of Oswaldo's shoulders has put he and his family in a very bad situation. The total family income for the month is enough to keep the elctricity, water and gas operational but is barely enough to keep the family fed. Oswaldo and his family are in deep need of a bathroom to be built closer to the home so that Oswaldo can reach it without undergoing further injury. This is our mission!
There are many things that Lord has called us to do for Oswaldo and his family. Oswaldo is a believer in Jesus Christ and has been praying that the Lord would send someone, anyone, to help his family in this time of need.
Please check back constantly for updates to this mission that our Father has sent us on! If at all possible, please check the list below to see if there is anything that you can help Oswaldo with. These things will be needed to build the bathroom on Oswaldo's house.
